My mother, Cheryl Shireman, has debuted her second novel Broken Resolutions.
For any woman out there who loves to read this is a book you have to check out! She has it available for purchase on Kindle and Nook and is also in the process of paperback.
Six long-time friends gather for their annual New Year’s Eve party. They are meeting at Craig and Hannah’s spectacular home in the country. Hannah is a best-selling romance novelist. Craig is her adoring husband. All seems perfect.
Except nothing is. No one knows that Craig left Hannah several months ago and is living across town with another woman. Tonight, Craig and Hannah will play the part one more time. Because tomorrow will be soon enough for broken dreams and reality. Tonight, they just have to get through the party.
But they didn’t plan on the snowstorm. A snowstorm that will keep them all snowed in together for the next three days. Which is plenty of time for secrets to be discovered, for illusions to be shattered, and for resolutions to be broken.
So, dab a little perfume behind your ear, put your party dress on, and slip into your favorite heels. You’re invited to the party!

Today I made a delicious and healthy black bean salsa and instead of using regular tortilla chips for dipping I decided to try Food Should Taste Good’s all natural blue corn chips. I picked these up at whole foods and they are amazing!
When making fresh salsa I usually try to get a lot of salsa on the chip so I am taking in more salsa than I am chip but with these healthy chips you might as well eat up!
The ingredients are: organic blue corn, high oleic sunflower oil/and or safflower oil, oat fiber, brown rice flour, flax seeds, evaporated cane juice, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, quinoa, soy flour, and sea salt
My black bean salsa recipe is so easy! Just mix up all of the ingredients below:
1 can black beans- rinsed
1 large tomato- diced
1/2 cup red onion
1/2 cup cilantro
juice of 1 lime
* can also add corn or fresh avacado
Here is the link to the chip brand! You can find them at Whole Foods 🙂
What makes a great latte? The answer to that question is high end supplies and an experienced barista! When taking a walk on Sunday my husband and I stopped into Quills Coffee and Tea on Bardstown Road in the Highlands. As soon as we walked into the door we could sense the good coffee vibes. We were taken back to our days living in Portland, OR where the coffee was phenomenal. The foam in that adorable leaf shape gets me every time!
Check out the video below where a barista makes a heart shape using the foam!
